Modelling diaries have been a challenge for me. The rigmarole of getting photos into posts has always annoyed me. Any time spent on this activity is time that could have been spent painting or playing. With this new website, getting the photos into the post is much easier so I intend to have a better go at it. Kings of War, X Wing and 40k are the main games that I play, but often I just paint something different for no other reason than I enjoy it. That being said, having a reason to paint something in particular always motivates me to get it done. Lately, that reason has been a slow 40k campaign that Big and I have created. He has chronicled this in his modelling diary so I won’t repeat it all here. The basic story is that two opposing Inquisitors (Tasetus and Dile) have set down on a verdant green planet in order to search for STC fragments amongst the ruins of an old imperial city. Tasetus is a bit of a Puritan. Dile is a bit more . . . free spirited. Tasetus has some help from both the Iron Hands and Imperial Guard. Dile has commandeered multiple Astartes units to achieve his goals. His story follows shortly. Big had already put together pretty much everything he required to get going, while I only had two units of marines done. Essentially I had to build an army to get going. Fortunately, the planet on which the fun takes place was teeming with life so we played with Tasetus making planet fall first (while I hastily prepared Dile and co).

In keeping with my habit of Not doing 2021 hobby comp, I'm kicking off my next army. For those not familiar with the fluff, Nightstalkers are kind of like the essence of your nightmares made manifest, and filled with all sorts of gribbly goodness. I'm also cheating because this army is almost entirely free. I got a voucher from work for Amazon for 10 years and bought a mega army, I then ordered more from mantic who fluffed up the order, and wound up reimbursing me despite having shipped half of it. I believe this gives me the right to go buy another army? Anyway. Kicking off with the 3rd starter set models. Butchers, a horror, and many many scarecrows. I'm thinking I'm going to airbrush the entire army in chameleon paints.

So we all enjoy the hobby, and sometimes we try to do something to test ourselves, and push our skills. By posting this up and keeping track I hope to: 1. Push myself 2. Not forgot how I've done anything when I take time off painting. This army is something I've wanted to do since ~6th ed WHFB, I just never felt I had the right models/right skills. I'm finally going all-in and painting a heavily white army, and promise myself i'm going to take the time with each unit, rather than getting fed-up and just trying to get it smashed out so I can play with painted models. The really stupid thing? I'm going to try and freehand all the sunbursts too /facepalm For those who haven't read the Wheel of Time, the Children of the Light (Whitecloaks) can be described as a religious armed force, but without a church structure - they just annexed an entire country to fund themselves. The entire army will be done with Mantic models, Basiliean Men-at-arms, Paladins and Paladin Knights. I'll stretch the fluff a little and add in some ballistae.
