So, GW recently revealed that the new Necron C'Tan shard is of the Void Dragon.  I wonder what this is going to mean for Mars...

The real void dragon was the friends we made along the way.

 

(As a casual fan I love to see 40k plot advance, but at the same time we're very aware they could AoShit the again)

It was being hailed as the biggest thing since The Heresy. It looks to be playing out as Necrons vs The Warp but that doesn't shout Psychic Awakening. That sounds more like an upsurge among the races with latent psychic abilities. Maybe the Crons try to kill The Warp, it fails and there's a massive psychic backlash throwing the galaxy into a new wave of chaos and uncertailnty. It would not surprise me if it was an earth shattering (see what I did there) event of some sort.

We could even be moving to square or god-forbid hex bases.

In the final Psychic Awakening book, the Necrons are building a "Pariah Nexus"  which seems to be putting people into a state of lethargy and apathy.  Where they just sit down a and stop doing anything (kind of like what created the reavers in Firefly).  They are doing it to subdue all the increases psychic activity in the galaxy from what I've been able to glean so far, but I'm yet to read the details in Pariah.

Most of the stuff I've gleaned is from the Warhammer Community site.

So anyway, since the Void Dragon is supposed to be on Mars....I wonder how this is going to change things?  Is the shard something from the entity on Mars?  Or did the Necrons have it tucked away somewhere and the thing on Mars is what's left of the C'Tan that wasn't captured by the Necrons?

Wild speculation, some sort of new Martian schism allowing mechron alliance armies. 

I'm picturing something akin to gebestealer cults but with necrons. 

Either way, the shard model is amazing.
