Oh yeah, my gaming peeps are definitely going to give it a good hard look. Nearly all of us still have our armies from back in the day. I mean sure, my undead are super-dusty, but that's just on theme 😉

I have like 4,000 points of lizardmen ready to go but also needing more painting, as well as smatterings of all sorts of other forces I've bought over the last 2 years, but of course I'm going to buy the new stuff >_>

It's all about the nostalgia for us, so the old armies will be 100% fine.

Hmm I wonder if they're 25mm squared, or if B2B would need to do a different design for that. Sadly their 20-to-25 doesn't have a laser etched centre line between models.

I had the start of a Warriors of Chaos army when old Fantasy went the way of the dodo.  I rebased them for AOS when it came out but didn't get into it.  Will be rebasing them as soon as I know what the base sizes are.

It should be a pretty easy pass for me, since none of the people i game with regularly are interested in returning to Rank and Flank games (or mass combat games), which i can accept, but at the same time, damn GW are doing a good job of pushing my nostalgia buttons.

and they're doing it with 2 factions that never really interested me... if they started with Dwarfs and/or Orcs and Goblins, i'd be balls deep.

the prices are also doing a good job of holding be back from just buying all the things anyway. i know i'm technically getting more plastic for my dollar than they cost 20 years ago, but they're still expensive, and i don't know i'd call them "good value".
and as i said elsewhere - i'm more just shocked that they cost $410 20 years ago - i'd call $410 for all that excessive *now*, 20 years ago it was just insane...

First of all *noises of unbridled enthusiasm*

Secondly, anyone else excited? Or know where to get some movement/adaptor trays?

Back-2-baseix are doing them.  There's drop down menus options to choose most appropriate for your needs.  Square OR round base (so if you're coming back to proper fantasy from Sigmar ... )

Minimum infantry base size is 25mm square.
Cav goes to rectangular 30x60.

I'll watch a few games to see if it tickles me ... if it doesn't 6th ed whfb is still being played, and so is KoW.   If it does, I'll sail the high seas to find the books and just buy the adapter trays.

I never much liked 6th ed, and its shaping up to be a continuance of that. So Im on the fence.

Ordered some anyway because well...Im broken inside.

Some of the rules I've seen in the promo material harken back to third edition, which had some cool stuff even if the over-all game was unwieldy.

Well, I've got the rules and both 'core' army books on pre-order. That'll do for now. I remain a little salty that vanilla undead are a 'legacy' army, but that army is in storage anyway (tho I do happen to have a couple of units with me that I can paint). A lot will depend on what the free pdf army they get ultimately looks like. I suppose if I get super keen I could finally start a dwarf army as dwarves have been on my to-do list for many years and they are 'core'.

Height doesn't concern me as you can overcome that with basing, but they are slighter of build than GW models. The overall aesthetic doesn't really match up either, but I actually prefer the Oathmark-look to GW's .

Finding the rules overly complex, and the return of some of the more dis-likeable things from 6th ed. Reading the rules has really put my close gaming buddies back up against it.

I too find myself not all that enthusiastic about it.

Watching battle reports, it seems the game is overall alot less lethal than any of the previous editions, and a tonne of stuff took heavy nerfs. Shooting is very weak.

Ridden monsters seem to be the sweet spot, with some truly brutal things being able to be done with them.

That was my concern that it was going to be overly complex.  I may hold off and stick with Kings of War to get my fantasy battle fix.
