BearPowers 242
Hey, I’ve been burning through some 40k books and finding mixed quality in the audio book reads. Some are great; others are not. Any recommendations for any that particularly shine?
Krefey 391
As a book, Infinite and the Divine is great. Not sure what the audio book is like though.
BearPowers 242
I Coincidentally just started that today and it’s great. Honestly, one of the better black library books.
Vargr 0
I'm particularly partial to the audio books for Lords of Silence (Deathguard) and really came to love the Fabius Bile series (Primogenitor, Clonelord and Manflayer). I really enjoyed the vocals for Fabius, it really sold his character to me. I'd love to know what was cut from the end of Manflayer, the story goes that the changes that were forced upon the Author (Josh Reynolds) were the final straw that lead to him leaving Black Library. Krefey 391
I loved reading the primogenitor series. Really made me like Bile as a character. So it's good to hear the audio books did them justice
moody 30
Am I wrong in not being at all interested in the 40k novels at all? I read inquisitor and harlequin and enjoyed both a very long time ago - but nothing since has looked even slightly interesting to me. Has anything kept the feel of those early novels? For HH I can't really say, but if you want a few general recomendations, then the Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan and Dogs of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky are both excellent. I find that you get good stuff from Abnett, Sandy Mitchell and a few others. Quality does vary wildly though, but it does seem to be having a generally positive uptick.
