Penitent - Dan Abnett *SPOILERS*

Featured Replies

So.  I read Penitent by Dan Abnett a little while ago and boy oh boy are there some juicy bits!

So a smaller spoiler is that there's a Blood Angel character that has feathered wings.  Which poses interesting questions for the possible  resurrection of Sanguinius.  Well, it does for me 😛 But the Yellow King obviously has access to create marines.

Second, and the biggest reveal right at the end, Constantine Valdor is alive and kicking...and is the Yellow King.  Not only kicking, but creating a massive army and fleet in a pocket dimension (possibly in the webway like Commorragh).  He also has a massive amount of clones of pariahs, which he's been using as weapons.  There's been a few theories I've seen as to what his true purpose is.  As the Yellow King, he's been searching for the true name of the Emperor.  This could be to destroy the Emperor...or it could be to resurrect / heal the Emperor.

Either way, the final book in the Bequin trilogy is going to be interesting to see how it develops and pans out!

I was given the first two books at my birthday in May and churned them pretty quickly.  I have always enjoyed Dan Abnett's work.

I found the inclusion of so many Traitor Legions really intriguing, particularly the group made up of multiple Legions.....

I am not sure where the final book can go though, the characters and themes introduced potentially are a pretty big deal and could have big effects on the setting.
