Prepping the Orc Boar Boys for my next project last night.

But squirrel brain kicked in when I found the Advanced Heroquest heroes, and decided to paint them instead.

The warrior was painted a while back, but at that time, I hadn't re-found the other guys. I've no real need for them - I don't even own the rest of Advanced Heroquest (got these in some bundle purchase at some point) but they were a fun little side project.

The Advanced Heroquest heroes are useful as proxies in a lot of fantasy games! I haven't played Advanced Heroquest, but my models from it have still seen plenty of table time over the years.  🙂

Another modest plan this month. Just 5 mechs and 3 infantry stands for Battletech. The models undercoated in black were already part of a previous month's plan, but  then I managed to completely ignore them after the undercoat.  These 8 models also represent the last of my unpainted Battletech models until such time as CGL gets it shit together enough to actually fulfil the Mercenaries Kickstarter. I don't expect that to happen before Xmas. Frustrating, but I don't doubt that they'll manage it eventually and I have plenty of other things to paint in the meantime.

When (if?) I finish these guys then I'll see about maybe punching through some more dwarves.

I am now in a rush to get everything ready for a big game at my club's open day on the 27th. First up are some more zombie pirates. There were some others finished as well, but their photo was poor. This batch of pirate musketeers have some good animation.

I also need to finish quite a few bits and pieces of scenery. Fortunately a 3D print specialist on eBay has been providing suitable pieces. Here we have a simple wooden dock in 3 sections with steps. A couple of angry civilians and a bosun's mate provide the scale. I am still managing to do one figure with stripes in each batch.

I haven't posted my previous months progress sorry.

I'm completely up to date with everything I had pledged up until this date.  I'm pledging 100 figures to finish for my chaos army by the end of the year.

Apologies for the terrible photos but I wanted to commit to trying to finish at least some of my 3d printed (3dbreed) 10mm dark age chaps. My goal is to print and paint enough to do a 10mm hasting campaign (following what the guys at Little Wars TV youtube channel did) but using Kings of War historical rules instead (1 base will be a unit like 40x40mm for infantry and 60 x 40mm base for cavalry (i.e. Norman Knights). I know the yellow is a bit bright so will tone down with a wash later. Doing the shields is doing my head in a little  bit TBH but must crack on.  At 10mm and being oldish the 2 foot rule will apply here to the paint job. Porbs with a 3d printer is you can turn out som many figs at this scale but you still have to paint them lol. Guess just feeding the addiction 1 base plate at a time hehe.

Also trying to finish off 4 more 15mm Old Glory naps to finish off a regiment of Napoleonic Italians and a regiment of  French mounted chasseur a cheval  (but these guys are a background task when I have a colour they need on my brush from the 10mm Dark Age guys). Who said us blokes can't mulit-task!

cheers and good stuff this month everyone. A varied lot and I hope you get to finish some stuff in your to-do list - always satisfying.

Ok, as distractible as I am I did manage to (mostly) finish 8 Roman Triarii for Saga (28mm chappies) for October (once I have added flock/tufts will hopefully remember to repost) . Probably sell these boys off TBH but I have done something (albeit not quite what I planned - have 16 Roman Saga Hastati to do as well ). Cheers and all that - happy hobbying folks...

I managed to finish everything I needed for a big Blood and Plunder game at Group North's open day. The pictures below show the last few bits and pieces.

First up some dock area gubbins: street lamps, boxes with nets, and a dock crane.

The next two pictures are the zombie pirate leaders and some artillery crew. My phone photography skills are still bad. I tried a different spot in the yard as background and it didn't work.

There are always more things to paint for this project, but for the next few months I don't want to touch the zombie pirates. I had motivation issues on that last unit of artillery crew, but bulled through as they were necessary for the game.

Top notch effort for October folks - well done.

Happy hobby-ing for future stuff for November 2024 and hope you can get some of that lead/plastics/resin/other? pile reduced and get the happy hormones that come with actually finishing something.

cheers
