Do I really have a need for yet more generic third party not-imperial-guard minis? Not really. Does it make me happy as hell to chop, glue sniff, kitbash and assemble them as if it's 2010? Yes.

Rebasing goblin characters for the latest edition of Kings of War. In future I may add some clumps of flowers and rocks as these bases look a bit plain.

I also rebased some mounted goblins and painted a few more Lord of the Rings Uruks.

Still got a strong kow community? I've literally never heard of anyone playing it, but then again my flgs is a regional city not a capital. I'd have thought WFB coming back would really damage kow, 9th age etc

My local club recently hosted a fantasy tourney day. The Kings of War event had six players, but there were several KoW players who did not attend. At the other end of the hall the Warhammer Fantasy event had 16 to 18 players. Curious thing is the Warhammer Fantasy event had not pulled away any of the KoW regulars. Rather, it seemed to bring back the WFB players from wherever they had gone.

I want to want to try KOW, but the store I occasionally buy stuff from had someone so insufferable about it (and Mantic in general) that they've put me off asking.

Dude needs to tone it down about 90% and he might have another player.

I did grab the rulebook when it was going out for free, so maybe one day...

Down here in sunny Canberra we have a good scene for Kings of War and I barely leave home these days (traditional Hobby hermit, that's  me) weekly at Tony's place northside, and fortnightly at Akikamburra in Tuggers, and quite a few event going on (pretty sure Ronin games, Woden and Belco,  host some games as well as Jolt up Mitchell way) , and I am sure lots of other events and gaming on the Northsides but with petrol the way it is that 50km round trip less appetising in the current world. Its a fun game , just don't roll double ones like I when doing nerve test on your opponent's units (I have won awards for this lol). There is also a historical version that I would like to revisit, hasn't been updated for years but just take the latest 4th edition fantasy KoW rules and reverse engineer them. Want to do a rehash of 1066 Hasting one day in 10mm (little wars TV has a great campaign video in case of interest, check 'em out on youTube) , on my bucket list to do as I slowly carve a path thru hundreds of 3d printed 10mm minis).

Regardless, any gaming or hobby time is a lovely break from the real world cr@p / work, gotta get some.

Hey Rossco, I also rebased my gobbo characters to the new 40mm KoW 4th edition base size, not quite as many as you so congrats mate. Not much fun to rebase existing figs TBH but you gotta do whats' ya gotta do right?

Happy hobbying folks, take care out there!

Hey Krefey, this is where I sometimes make it to for Kow , close-ish to you as well at tuggers . Lots of card player go there as well and even some (mantic) Halo games occasionally, probs other games , and the shop sell paints and hobby stuff too . Next one should be the 19th and we usually play 1,000 point Ambush or otherwise. If you are on FB look for "Kings of War ACT" private group. Most recent post about southside KoW "Kings of War (KOW) Southside, 6:30pm Tuesday 5 May 2026. Our Fortnightly KOW is on this Tuesday Night at Akikambara. Location is Unit 24/191-203 Anketell St, Greenway. Its across from the Mcdonalds/KFC and opposite the food strip at Southpoint. There is no entry fee, with snack foods and drinks available in store. Outside food is allowed as well but please be thoughtful and tidy up."

cheers

Yeah, I've been there once or twice.  Should see if I can't tee up a game of something down there again at some stage instead of hermiting

sounds good Krefey. There are always bigger comps usually up north side (Jolt or Watson tech park). Not sure how I will go next week as a busy week ahead but hopefully in a a fortnight after I should be good (getting rusty of 4th edition TBH) . I run either 1000 points of Gobbos, Tomb kings/Empire of Dust or Ogres. Jattz, the bloke that organises us all and he is is a great chap and, can bring a spare army if you need. I can brings mats and terrain for say 2-3 3x3 foot tables. Don't need quire as much for 1000 point games. I am happy to see if someone else rolls more double ones/Snakes eyes than me LOL.

I'm doing bits and pieces for different projects this month.

This batch of figures finishes the machine gun units for my WW1 Ottoman Turks. I added a third crewman for each MG to fill out the base for aesthetics. This lot are a mix of Eureka and Irregular Miniatures. The MG at back right is a ring-in suited for use in the wars immediately after WW1 when the Turks had to scrounge captured gear.

I don't own any KoW, so would probably have to look at borrowing an army from someone.  Or I can continue to hobby hermit XD

I can lend you a 1,000 point Ambush or non-ambush KoW force for goblins or, maybe Ogres (still building these guys up so may be a sub-optimal list) Krefey.

Sorry mate, been so busy last 6 weeks or so have not made it but hope to make it next time (shall we pencil in Tuesday evening 2nd June?). Jattz , our organiser might also have some spare forces so pls let me know what you'd liek to try and I will see if we can work something out (we can always proxy units for you as well). main thing is come on down, rolls some dice (hopefully not too many double one's like I seem to manage to) and have some fun. Pls let me know what works for you?

cheers

I've now painted all the Legions Imperialis I own (not counting the knights and titans I got when Adeptus Titanicus was a thing)

Mostly prep-work - but managed to acquire a mostly complete box of Battle for Skull Pass Warhammer 7th (I think?) starter - so prepping those models for a re-prime, since most aren't properly primed (and some are still bare) - and also for the Manor House of the Empire kit for my birthday, so spent a good few hours putting that together while singing Blur's Country House on repeat.20260524_095245.thumb.jpg.ed8d95cd8fefe0bb5323c85677ccfce9.jpg

(Lots of greebles to stick to the house yet.)

I have finished a section of a project! Yay!

This is my selection of French soldiers for The Silver Bayonet. I'm still missing a couple of options, but they can wait until I find the right figures. Front row are officers. Second row are grenadiers, sappers and artillerists. Third row is a dismounted cavalryman, marines and a native guide. Back row are basic infantry.

image.thumb.jpeg.8a753676f470fa069bdd4f25912a2fd0.jpeg

Next in my Silver Bayonet project will be figures in civilian clothes. These will have multiple uses: some of the unit specialist types, game objectives or normal-looking monsters.

My next few paint batches will be on other projects. I have a big game of Lion Rampant in a few weeks time, so have the urge to finish a couple of units that have sat half done for a couple of years. Plus some more figures for the Mantic Firefight rules and the other half of a unit of ancient Gallic javelinmen.
